The Art of the HANDSHAKE

Stand up!... and offer a firm (not bone crushing)
handshake. Grip the other person’s hand so
that the webs of your thumbs meet.
♦ Extend your arm slightly to allow some
space between you.
♦ Don’t forget the eye contact. A firm
handshake along with good eye contact demonstrates
self-confidence.
Shopping for the Multifamily Industry Since 1984
Follow The Three “F”s
Firm - A squeeze but not a vise grip!
Fast - Shake firmly just a couple of times and
end the handshake cleanly
Free of Perspiration - Any perspiration is
discreetly wiped off on your trousers or skirt just
a few seconds before!
WHEN Do You Shake Hands?
A well tendered handshake says,
“I am a pro. You are a pro. I respect and appreciate your
business. Most importantly, you can trust and depend on me.”
Tips ‘N Tools
Both men and women are expected to shake hands in the
following situations:
1. When meeting someone and when saying goodbye
2. When renewing an acquaintance
3. When someone enters the community office
4. When greeting a host and being introduced to people
5. When meeting someone you already know outside your work or
home
6. When ending a transaction or leaving a business or social event

"We take Commitments not Applicants!"

By: Angela Donn, Property Manager

Good Morning Everyone!!! I wanted to share this with you. I saw this slogan on a billboard this week and it just clicked with me. This is what we do everyday-think about it.
Do you approach each prospect with this frame of mind? If not try this saying on and be a difference maker today!!! We take Commitments not Applicants!

We are a team of extremely talented individuals, very diverse and accomplished. There is no reason that we do not shine each and everyday. Each community has the ability and opportunity to be SUPERSTARS every single day.

It is so easy to get caught up in all the paperwork and pressures our careers have that are associated with being in property management. Don’t do it, our paperwork and policies are important, just remember that each person that calls or walks in the door (prospect or resident) is an opportunity to make a difference at our communities.

I can tell you that every deposit that I have taken over the last two weeks rented at Newport Woods because I made them feel that I cared about them and the next year of their life.
I painted a picture that made them feel that this is the place that would make them happy and content. I spent time to get to know them and shared a little bit about my life as it applied to theirs. This past week my prospects have told me that they rented because of me. (yes I have a good move in special, but that wasn’t what sold them and if truth be told I know I could have closed a lot of my prospects without a special-sorry Heath  ) All of you can do the same thing I am doing, I know it, we have talent in our company. Tap into yours today, give your prospects a special dose of Paragon Spirit today.

On 1/31/11 NPW was 78% Occupied with 22% vacant. Yesterday we are 83% Occupied and 88% Leased. I have 3 days to bring my numbers up my goal is 90% leased by 2/28/11.
What is your goal for this month. Have you reached it? What can you do to make it happen? Lift up your team, tell them thank you for all the hard work and effort they are putting into reaching your goals as well.

Remember how much fun and team spirit we had on our snow day when everyone made the best of a not so great situation….we came to work even when we could have used the snow as an excuse to stay home, wouldn’t it be great if we felt and acted that way everyday…

Let’s have fun today and keep a positive flow running throughout the company today. We can make a difference if we want to….

To go along with the Valentines day theme for Feb. You can do a cutest couples contest at your community send out a flyer to all of your residents. The contest doesn't have to be cutest couples per se, it can be a resident and their pup or even two best friends. The winners receive a Valentines day dinner at a local restaurant, which you can get donated if you market with them already. For picking the winners to make it fair you can pick the first resident who brings there picture in, or the most touching story. Regardless HAVE FUN WITH IT!!! :)
